Before setting up your Wi-Fi garage door opener, make sure you have a strong enough signal in your garage to connect a Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener. The strength of the Wi-Fi in your garage will affect your means of getting connected.

Visit setup.myqdevice.com to connect your opener to your home Wi-Fi network and begin the process of controlling your garage door from everywhere. Make sure to write down your MyQ Serial Number during this process.

MyQ App Set Up

Improving Your Wi-Fi Signal Strength

If your Wi-Fi signal in your garage is less than one bar, you have options to improve the signal strength by relocating your router or installing a range extender.

 

 

Improving Signal Strength >

Test the Wi-Fi signal strength

Make sure your mobile device is connected to your Wi-Fi network. Hold your mobile device in the place where your garage door opener will be installed and check the Wi-Fi signal strength.

 
Check your signal strength. If you see:

Wi-Fi signal is strong
The garage door opener will connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Wi-Fi signal is weak
The garage door opener may connect to your Wi-Fi network. If not, try one of these options below to establish a strong signal.

No Wi-Fi signal
The garage door opener will not be able to connect to your Wi-Fi network. Try one of the options below to establish a strong signal.

Connecting Your Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener

Step 1

Smart Control Panel Wi-Fi Setup

Use your Smart Control Panell® (located on your wall).
Navigate to Menu > Program > Wi-Fi Setup.

Step 2

Connect to Network

On your Wi-Fi-enabled smartphone, tablet or laptop, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and select the network with the “MyQ-” prex
Step 3

Setup Device

Launch the web browser on your Wi-Fi-enabled smartphone, tablet or laptop, enter setup.myqdevice.com and follow the on-screen prompts. Make sure to write down the MyQ Serial number.

Step 4

Connect to Network

Download the MyQ app, set up an account and add the MyQ serial number to the account.

Follow the steps below to setup your MyQ account and get started controlling your garage door opener from your smartphone or tablet.




Download the MyQ App



Begin opening and closing your garage door with your smartphone in just a few easy steps. Visit the Apple® App or Google Play Store to download the MyQ App on the phone or tablet you plan to connect to your Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener. The Apple app is compatible with iOS 6.0 or later.





Sign Up For a MyQ Account



Create a MyQ account using your name, email and password. You must sign up for an account using the app or by visiting myLiftMaster.com. Your account email and password will be used when you log into your MyQ account.




Enter Your Serial Number



After you've downloaded the app and created an account, you must add your MyQ serial number (provided during process of attaching the garage door opener to your home Wi-Fi network) to your MyQ Account when prompted. Once the MyQ serial number is added, the Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener will be added to your account. (The MyQ serial number is also located on the end panel (yellow wire hanging out) of your garage door opener.



Control Your Opener



Once your Wi-Fi garage door opener is added to your MyQ account, you can open or close your garage door by tapping the door image on your smartphone or tablet. You can now control your garage door from anywhere in the world using your mobile device.



App Alert SetUp



Once your Wi-Fi garage door opener is added to your account, you can setup alerts and notifications for when your garage door is opened or closed.
